City Detect - Bringing Advanced Technology to Urban Development

Transforming Communities

Our Story

Founded in 2021, City Detect is on a mission to revolutionize the way local governments and nonprofits understand and interact with their communities. Leveraging cutting-edge AI and computer vision technology, we provide detailed, near-real-time insights on housing conditions. Our journey began with a passion for urban development, a keen understanding of technology, and a commitment to making a positive social impact.

Our Approach

City Detect’s approach is simple but powerful. We use fleet vehicles equipped with cameras to capture images of city properties. These images are then processed by our AI, identifying and mapping issues affecting properties. The result? Detailed, actionable reports that inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Leadership Team

Our team is led by Gavin Baum-Blake, an army veteran and seasoned entrepreneur with a background in startup law, and Dr. Erik Johnson, an urban economist, AI/ML engineer, and well-known data scientist. Erik’s ground breaking work using AI to value the curb appeal of property was published in the Wall Street Journal and NY Times. Gavin’s strategic and legal expertise, combined with Erik’s technical mastery, form a strong foundation for City Detect’s success.
